Steps to Apply

Step 1

Review the Requirements

Before applying, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Age: eighteen (18) years at the time of the interview.
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to purchase required materials for related instruction and various hand tools.
  • Pass a physical examination and drug screening.

Step 2

Gather Necessary Documents

  • Final high school transcript or GED certificate.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Birth certificate 
  • Resume
  • Veterans: present a copy of transfer documentation or discharge (DD 214).
  • Additional supporting documents (optional but beneficial):
    • Certifications or specialized training records
    • Letters of recommendation

Step 3

Submit Documentation

  • All documents must be submitted simultaneously.
  • Ensure that Step 2 is complete before you begin uploading your documents.

Complete Online Application

  • Fill out and submit the online application form.
  • Upon submission, you will receive a confirmation email.

Step 6

Interview Process

  • Qualified applicants will be contacted to schedule an interview with the Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (JATC).

Step 7

Ranking and Acceptance

  • After the interview, applicants are placed on a list and ranked based on exam and interview scores.
  • Rankings are accessible the month following your interview.
  • Accepted candidates will be notified via phone and email.
